Language Arts and Religion for Fifth Grade

Fifth Grade Language Arts and Religion

Welcome to 5th Grade Language Arts and Religion! It is my awesome privilege to work with you all this coming year as we continue to grow and form the young men and women of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School.

Here is a brief overview of what your students will be working on this week.

5th Grade Language Arts:

Spelling: There will be 25 spelling words for the week. They will be in the work book. On Monday they will need to find the definition for all 25 words, Tuesday thru Thursday will be workbook pages, leading up to the test on Friday.

Reading: We will be reading short stories from the Treasures book in class and having discussions about characters and settings. The theme for the stories are going to be standing up for what’s right.

Writing: We will begin looking at proper use of punctuation in sentences as a review of the past year. Students will be given sentences with no punctuation and asked to correct them.

5th Grade Religion:

We will be developing Bible literacy skills, learning how to find passages in the Bible as well as familiarizing ourselves with the different books, an emphasis on the Old and New Testaments and their contents.

Parental Reminder:

P.i.E. Night: A reminder to all our parents, this Thursday, August 18th is a mandatory night. The night will begin at 6:30 PM in the Church.
